Bills Filed in the 85th Legislative Session.... So FAR!

We've been keeping a close watch on the 85th Texas Legislative Session with regard to Cosmetology.

Thus far there have been TWO somewhat interesting bills filed involving Cosmetology.

The first is related to abolishing shampoo apprentice permits and shampoo specialty certificates.   Seems fairly simple because that happened years ago.  However, what this bill seeks is to remove shampooing and conditioning as a service provided by licensed cosmetologist AND barbers.  I'm wondering if that means that a stylist could hire someone without any kind of a license or permit to shampoo for them in the salon?

The second is way more interesting!  It's concerning

sexual assault and domestic violence awareness training and reporting by cosmetology license holders.

Check out both Bills and read up on them.  We would LOVE to know your thoughts!
